I was talking to a geneticist the other day who had some very interesting theories. Even though he is a very smart man and also scientist he also believes in a lot of strange superstitions like the existence of zombies. I think that this is a very interesting set of beliefs that he has. But part of the reason that he told me that he believes in zombies is because he thinks that it is possible for humans to lose most of their brain function but still exhibit and be very single-minded and what they want. He said of the kind of zombies who believes in did not necessarily lust for brains but they are sort of reanimated monster like a Frankenstein. I think this is a very interesting theory. He also said that he thinks that it zombies do exist they could probably be genetically engineered and manipulated to be controlled by humans. He said that he thought whole zombie armies could exist and that they could be used to fight instead of real people. I told him that this seemed questionably a moral sense the zombie soldiers would still be inside human bodies. He sent not necessarily. He thought that the zombies could be created from dead people. And after you are dead you are not really considered human. I told him that still seemed very strange. I mean how would he feel if his grandmother were reanimated by the government and made to go fight a war. He said he would not care because he would realize that it was not really his grandmother anymore. But I said most people would have a really hard time getting over the fact that there zombie grandmother was not the person that they had known and loved. He said the people are too sentimental and that if he were in charge he would have zombies doing all sorts of things. I agree with him that maybe people are too sentimental but I still think that it is not a good idea. He said that we would just have to agree to disagree and I think that is probably true.
