Reflections on the Human Condition

So I was sitting on my surfboard a few weeks ago on a glorious Australian morning, while the first golden beams of new light were piercing the clouds, morphing into a perfect soft pink. As I watched the sunrise I couldn’t help but have one of those moments where the world seems almost perfect, with so much potential.

The only problem with this equation was that when I turned to face the beach, in order to catch a wave, I couldn’t help but see all the cars and buildings on the shore line, to see the paradox of the human condition.

There are two things that come to mind when I see the human condition around me. The first is, is it too late to save the world? Have we come so far down a one-way road now that our situation is irreparable? Is a terrible finish for the human race now just a question of time?

The other is, if there is a meaning to life, why don’t we know what it is? Should we expect the answer to this seemingly unanswerable question to be as simple and obvious as the answers to so many of the other historically seemingly unanswerable questions like whether the world was flat or where the variety of life on earth came from.

Surely after thousands of years of civilization we should be closer to knowing the answer to the question of good vs evil.

There is so much sadness, cynicism and anger in the world, I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to hear some good inspiring news on the TV at night.

If I’m honest about my thoughts, most of the time I try not to think about these sorts of questions because I can never find a feasible answer and it only leaves me feeling depressed. There are only so many times you can whack your head against a wall hoping its going to break. I generally like to tell myself it’s other people on the planet that are the cause of the problems.

But that’s the frightening thing about the human condition. The title “condition” would suggest that it involves all of us, possibly it’s my own selfishness, my own egocentricity that is the cause of the problem?

What can we do about it? I’m no genius, I’ve had a pretty good education and I’ve been lucky enough to come from a lovely country, but I know, as I said, I spend most of my time trying to block out the questions that leave me feeling helpless.

And if the profits that created some of the great religions in the world or philosophers like Plato, couldn’t solve the issue, then who can and where will it come from?

While I don’t know the answer to the human condition, I do know that I have an unexplainable feeling that we will one day explain the paradox of our nature.

Those beautiful sunrise’s simply remind me of that.

There Needs to Be More Cartoons with Toasters in Them

After watching The Brave Little Toaster for the 100th time I decided that more cartoon movies should include toasters as one of their characters. The toaster is something you would normally think of as a great object to make a cartoon character out of. The boxy shape might be rather boring to some. But I think you can be totally creative in how you design things like the eyes or nose to give a really fun look that kids will love. I’m actually inspired to start my own cartoon studio and I’m thinking of using a toaster in the logo. Then I’ll create some story boards to illustrate a bunch of ideas for a cartoon toaster movie. I think there is a lot of potential here. Then if my movie is a hit, I can make toaster stuffed animals. I might even get to create a toaster video game for the Wii and XBox.

When You Say That Two Words

Genetics and Zombies

I was talking to a geneticist the other day who had some very interesting theories. Even though he is a very smart man and also scientist he also believes in a lot of strange superstitions like the existence of zombies. I think that this is a very interesting set of beliefs that he has. But part of the reason that he told me that he believes in zombies is because he thinks that it is possible for humans to lose most of their brain function but still exhibit and be very single-minded and what they want. He said of the kind of zombies who believes in did not necessarily lust for brains but they are sort of reanimated monster like a Frankenstein. I think this is a very interesting theory. He also said that he thinks that it zombies do exist they could probably be genetically engineered and manipulated to be controlled by humans. He said that he thought whole zombie armies could exist and that they could be used to fight instead of real people. I told him that this seemed questionably a moral sense the zombie soldiers would still be inside human bodies. He sent not necessarily. He thought that the zombies could be created from dead people. And after you are dead you are not really considered human. I told him that still seemed very strange. I mean how would he feel if his grandmother were reanimated by the government and made to go fight a war. He said he would not care because he would realize that it was not really his grandmother anymore. But I said most people would have a really hard time getting over the fact that there zombie grandmother was not the person that they had known and loved. He said the people are too sentimental and that if he were in charge he would have zombies doing all sorts of things. I agree with him that maybe people are too sentimental but I still think that it is not a good idea. He said that we would just have to agree to disagree and I think that is probably true.

What is Beyond the Living Matrix

Those of you who are looking for truth and trying to understand how they can combine their spiritual life and science have probably seen the film called The Living Matrix. It is a great movie that talks about the field theory, the fact that our thoughts are material and about new healing practices in the world. In the end our life is just cause and effect. Only when we take the full responsibility for all our actions and thoughts we can be successful in whatever we do, be healthy and happy in our personal life.

There are a lot of schools that can teach you what guest speakers in the Living Matrix movie talked about. However most of them talk about theories that were not tested in practice. It is Taco Tuesday!

The best day of the week is Taco Tuesday. That is a clear statement and I don’t think it needs any explanation but I am going to explain why anyways. I know growing up, most people are served tacos at school every Tuesday and I don’t think I know anybody who doesn’t love to eat tacos. They are pretty much the best food dish ever. Another clear statement. You can make them as healthy as you want, or as greasy as you want. All you do is change around a few ingredients and you can choose what kind of tacos you want to eat that day. I guess the whole point of this post is that I look forward to eating tacos every Tuesday. I think I might even make name badges for everyone at my work and have us all wear them on Tuesdays. They are going to say TACO TUESDAY in all capital letters.

Is there ever really a best in anything? People constantly ask me to help them pick the best digital piano, but there is no best. Just ask yourself this. Which computer is the best? Which gaming system is the best? Which tv is the best? There is no best, and digital pianos are no different.

When it comes to digital pianos, each model has its own pros and cons. Each model is different, and as a result, you need to find one that suits your needs and wants. The Yamaha digital pianos may be more durable, but the Casio ones are cheaper. Kurzweil is rare, but they have possibly the best grand pianos. Even within the company itself, each digital piano is different. You just need to try them out for yourself to know which is best for you.

As for me, my favorite digital piano is the Roland FPF7. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t call it the best digital piano. Now that you know this, quit asking me. Just go choose your own.

Sing Higher Notes with Less Tension!

If you want to learn how to sing high notes, it begins with doing vocal exercises in your upper range. But it is better if you do vocal trills, either lip trills or tongue trills because this takes the weight off the vocal chords and puts them on the lips or the tongue. This benefits you by waking up the lips and the face muscles and it also helps you not to strain as you are singing the higher notes. You Have the Best Movies

I have really enjoyed the process of going from a dial up modem to fast access cable internet. I love everything about fast access cable internet. I found this new crazy thing called downloading movies to you computer and you don’t ever have to go out to watch a great movie again. If I didnt have the best connection from Comcast I know I wouldn’t be downloading movies or music at all. The other day when I went and visited my parents for a week I forgot they still had dial up internet and I tried to download a movie and it was brutal. I ended up stopping the download because by the numbers it would have taken me all day to download half of the movie. Your website is so cool I have been able to find so many of my favorites movies and television to download and watch over and over.

Learning to Draw at Age Eight

I learned how to draw when I was very young. I do not remember exactly how I started, but I do remember that I practiced all the time, everywhere. I had a little pad of paper about five by seven inches, and I took it with me to school, for rides in the car, and even to dinner until my mother told me to put it away. I’ve have watches and toy dolls that I spent less time with.

I always thought it was really interesting the way things looked. That’s probably why I started drawing – I wanted to break down how things looked the way they did, and I thought if I tried to imitate them with a pencil then I would be able to understand how we saw what we saw. That bothered me, too — was everyone seeing the same thing? Or when I saw the color red, the real color red, was someone else seeing blue, and just calling it red because they had been taught to call blue red?

Today I was looking on my beautiful wife and I told her how pretty she is.She smiled at me and she gave me a sweet kiss.I told her that I really want a photo to painting with us because I want to have it every time with me.After the great painting arrived ,I take it to place I work and put it on my desk.Now I’m feeling a lot better because when I will be nervous ,I will look every time how beautiful is my wife.Now I wish that the next painting will be with me her and our beautiful baby.When I told her that ,she laugh very hard.She told me that she wants that too.I was very glad to hear that because I’m always thinking if I will be a good or a bad father.I am also thinking how my kids will look like.These questions are always in my mind.

Getting Some Photos Done

I need to get some pictures of my grandparents made. When we were moving we lost all sorts of personal things. I am not really sure what happened. Nothing that vanished was of any value to other people, so it seems unlikely that one of the movers would have taken something that was not worth anything to any other person save for me. I am going to need to find a Raleigh senior photography studio to see if I can at least have a couple of portraits to remember them by when they are gone. It should be something less than formal I suppose, but I do not really know. It is after all impossible to replace a lifetime worth of memory. I am really wondering if I can contact the people who bought our house in Cary. Perhaps I packed up all of that stuff and then left it sitting somewhere without taking it with us.
