 Good Brand, Good Price, BAD MONITOR!!! Apr 15, 2010
Though this is the first lcd i bought from VIEWSONIC; its not the first monitor that i've bought from the company. My Tube monitor worked great for a long time, so when i decided to upgrade to a bigger screen i trusted the brand and went with the 28" LCD. At first my eyes were like wow, the colors, the brightness, everything was cool. I had it for about a couple months; i go to turn on my monitor and noticed a slight DECREASE in brightness. I went through the settings and boosted the contrast and brightness to 100%. This to my disappointment was only a temporary fix; a year or so later its like i'm looking at the monitor with my eyes half shut. Now i'm freaking writing this review with squinted eyes about 6 inches away from the monitor. Don't ge me wrong, i'm generally not one to complain about things, but this is rediculous. At first i thought oh this is what people are talking about when they say LCD's have a lifespan of 15-20,000 hours, so i figured i might be reaching it, but when i rechecked out the est. life of this LCD, its 40,000 hours... sure i leave my monitor on 24-7, but no where near that number(24 x 7 x 52 x 1.5years = 10,920). LONG STORY SHORT, I DO NOT RECOMMEND OTHERS TO BUY THIS MONITOR. OH BY THE WAY, WARRANTY DEPARMENT SUCKS TOO,.. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE WARRANTY DONE. WHEN THEY ASKED FOR THE PROOF OF PURCHASE, FOR SOME REASON THE NUMBER AND EVEN THE SERIAL NUMBER IN THE BACK OF THE MONITOR DIDN'T SHOW UP ON THEIR COMPUTER, AFTER HECKLING AND TELLING THEM I BOUGHT THIS THROUGH A STORE THEY STILL COULDN'T HELP ME.. PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS.. I HAVE MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MONITOR, BUT I AM GETTING A HEADACHE FROM SQUITING MY EYES TO WRITE THIS REVIEW. SO TO "H" WITH THIS COMPANY I'M TAKING MY $$$$ TO SOMEONE ELSE.

 Not a good monitor at all Feb 22, 2010
I bought this monitor from a local "Big Box" store. It worked well for about one year. However, It gave off a lot of "heat" from the screen. It developed an issue with the power supply. To turn it back on (after sleep or power off) I had to physically unplug and replug power cord at wall or back. I called ViewSonic, they said to reinstall the driver that came with this monitor. They offered to repair or replace and I begged for them to send me a replacement, so I could send back in their box and avoid being without my monitor. Finally, the POS stopped working entirely. I sent it back. They replaced with a 26 inch refurb. I informed them of my displeasure and unlikelihood of future ViewSonic purchases.

for the engineering organization I help manage. 2 DOA. 9 have failed and been returned under warranty. It seems to be a weak power supply design. Initially we had good response from the RMA process but no longer. Even though they are very good when they work, I would try another brand. We have recently gone to a 27" LG.I do not have enough time with those to draw a conclusion but there have been no DOA.

I'll keep it short and sweet: I bought this because I wanted a monitor that didn't shrink my text into oblivion, and would run my games in a native mode that didn't make the graphics card struggle. This monitor has been perfect! When I bought it the price was incredible - these days, you should compare the Hanns - but my satisfaction with this monitor has been complete. (I got used to the annoying blue screen when the computer is off)
