Almost, but not good enough Feb 06, 2009 I purchased the Sony Vaio VGC-LT39U with the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner because I liked that fact that it was an All-In-One, plus it was a digital TV and a Computer. Since I have it in my den, I didn't want the clutter of having both a TV and a computer. I chose this older Vaio model over the newer version because it was more compact and looks better on a desk than the newer model which is bigger and styled more like a Mac. I knew there would be some compromises, but overall it was a good blend of style and features. As a computer, the machine is very nice. It's pretty fast compared to my old laptop, and the wireless keyboard and mouse work very well. The problem centers around the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner. I've had the machine for nearly a month, and I have yet to get the tuner to work properly with a cablecard. It works fine without the cablecard, but the picture is not nearly as crisp and clear. With the cablecard, the picture oscillates between being great and a screen full of colored mozaics. It cycles back and forth like this about every two seconds. I have gone on-line and contacted AMD (the maker of the TV Wonder) only to be told that its not their problem, and I need to take it up with Sony. I have contacted Sony Support on four different occassions, and their technicians just keep taking shots in the dark, and so far have missed the target every time. I have also had a Comcast technician out, and he has tried three different cablecards, and gets the same results every time. The signal to the house has been checked and everything appears to be fine, and all the other TV's work perfectly. If it weren't for the TV Wonder, I would be totally happy with this purchase. As it stands now, I'm pretty disappointed. Since I'm getting about half of what I expected, I gave this machine half a score. I will continue to pursue getting the problem resolved, and if I succeed, I'll be happy. I'm just not there yet.

Absolutely love my sony!! Jan 12, 2009 I waited a year to buy this product and I've had it for 3 months now. This is my third sony computer and this is the best one yet. It runs absolutely amazingly and sony computers always come with a tone of neat softward. A word of CAUTION though: If you are a music buff like myself and own a ton of cds, DO NOT RIP them onto your computer using any sony product (ATRAC); I moved from dublin and rather than logging 90+ cds overseas, I burnt them all using my sony laptop (sonicstage); unfortunately I can't play any of those files on this sony computer, thanks to sony's overzealous copy protection. Its not like I didn't OWN all the music I burnt! Anyways, besides that little sidenote, I'm loving this machine!!!
