It does the job! May 15, 2009 The ScanDisk did the job with pleanty of space left. 8 gb was more than enough for my needs.
No complaints!
Great product Feb 17, 2009 I use this for the ReadyBoost in Vista and it works great. The main complaint is the design of opening the USB connector. But, since I leave it in all the time I have only had to mess around with that once.
Fast drive and high capacity Jan 22, 2009 I own this drive for almost a year and I'm very happy with it. It has a very high read/wright speed 25/18 which means if you have large files it'll go much faster than most other 8gb drives that's out there, which takes about 18 minutes transfering to the drive 3 gigs which the contour takes only 3 minutes or less. People complain about the size, but if you want the speed it's worth it. Bottom line: if you need a drive for large files, the contour is the right choice, but if you don't have very large files to transfer and it bothers you the size rather take the other cruzer.
Great flash drive, but... Jan 10, 2009 The Sandisk Cruzer Contour is a great flash drive, in my opinion. It's reliable, fast, and sleek-looking. Some people dislike the mechanism to open the drive, but it seems OK to me. It's easy to use and seems sturdy. Sure, it could be more prone to breaking in the long run, but so would any other drive that has a sliding USB connector.
I don't care for the U3 software, and never have. Instead, I get PortableApps. This flash drive runs the apps much better and faster than my old one.
The only problem I've had is that the flash drive is a tad larger than my old one. This is an issue, seeing as my older model Dell computer has weird front USB ports. Due to the odd configuration, I cannot use the flash drive when plugged directly into those ports; the connection is not reliable as the drive doesn't fit well in the ports. Instead, I need to use a small USB extension cord, which is a little tight on the flash drive. In turn, it feels like I'll pull the drive apart when trying to disconnect it from the cord. I'm working on a permanent solution still, but it's not the drive's fault, really.

Good insides, bad mechanism Dec 07, 2008 The drive itself works well and is decently fast. However the mechanism went bad on me, making it unusable. The mechanism used to work fine at first, but over time the door stopped closing to protect the connector. Now the connector won't stay out, so unless you have a pair of small nosed pliers, you can't even insert it into your computer. Trying to explain this to Sandisk support rep in India was a surreal experience in futility... "I can't insert the drive into the computer because the connector retracts into the contour case." "You need to use the USB connectors on the back of your computer." "I can't insert it into any connectors at all; it's a mechanical problem with the USB drive". "Okay sir, which port are you using on your computer" "All ports have this problem because the drive itself won't go in". "Which port are you using on your computer" "Uh, the back port." "Okay, does the LED flash when you insert it" "I can't insert the drive, so no, the LED does not come on". "What operating system are you using?" "I've got to go... Let me call back another time".
