Clean appearance, good performance Jan 03, 2009 I have to say this monitor is very pleasing after using it about 5 days for a few hours each day. The screen has a pleasing amount of matte texture, not too glossy so as to add glare, but not to matte so as to muddy up the video. The height adjustable, tilt, and swiveling base is very nice, but since I don't usually (almost never) rotate the monitor to vertical I will rarely notice the nice base after setting it up. The worst feature is the touch-sensitive controls. They aren't really that bad, because I haven't needed to use them very much after first setting up, and a plus for them is that they won't collect dirt and dust and they add to this monitor's clean appearance. The buttons don't always respond with each touch, and that coupled with a lack of button menu familiarity (since the device is new to me) makes them seem worse than they actually are. I like the idea but they need to perfect the touch sensitivity some more on future models. This feature would not deter me from a great recommendation. As for the blue power light mentioned in other reviews, I can hardly believe people complain this much about such trivial things, at least that's how I see it. It is easily covered up if necessary... As it happens for me, the blue matches my Antec P150 PC case power and HHD lights... and I don't have issue with indicator lights being visible. The point of them is to show the status of the video input and power status, which I find useful when switching PCs with my KVM switch. The video switches fairly quickly using the KVM, with only a second or two of no video. This is slightly slower than the 204B was, but definitely no issue. I also like the crystalline (back-painted glass) look of the bezel and it sort-of matches nicely with the MS-Vista Aero glass theme appearance.
I had been using a Samsung 204B 20 inch flat monitor for 3 years Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20.1-Inch LCD Monitor (Black) and was quite pleased with it overall, so picking out this monitor felt safe. I had looked at the Dell S2409W 24" LCD DELL S2409W 24" Full HD 1080p Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (With DVI & HDMI Connection) at Best Buy at was seriously considering that one, and then I saw the small cousin of this monitor, the 2493HM Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM 24" LCD Monitor, and liked its looks better, and I was more comfortable with the Samsung brand. Finding the 2693HM was only about $30 more for the extra size, I went for it, and I'm pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

2693hm a great buy. Dec 25, 2008 I'm not a monitor expert, but I love this one. I wanted a 26 inch that would rotate & this one does a great job. The rotate software doesn't seem to work with my system, but I simply click 90-degree rotate on my NVIDIA video card menu & it works fine. As one review mentioned on CNET, the lower viewing angle (like slumped in your chair) is not good at all. Left, right and from above are great. When rotated 90 degrees, if you lean to the left, you'll experience VERY poor image quality. Some have complained about the stand being wobbly, but it's a large 26 inch monitor with tilt & rotate built into the stand so it's not going to be as stable as your 20". It's not going to topple off your desk as some have suggested. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. Great product for the $$.

Good office monitor. Dec 22, 2008 Bright, very high contrast picture giving photographs an unreal quality. Colors only six bits and not comparable with a Samsung 214T that's a few years old. The viewing angle is narrower than claimed at first, but gets wider with a few days time. A big annoyance was that to light up it takes up to 30 seconds when powering up to figure out which of its three video connectors is the active. This also happened when powered down by the power saving software. I liked the change from mechanical adjustment buttons to electrostatic ones but not the wider frame, thicker box, and glossy black finish (compared to the 214T). As usual and unlike most online retailers, Amazon was cooperative in accepting return and an order for a Samsung 245T.

Not good for photo editing Dec 16, 2008 I bought this monitor on Samsung's excellent reputation for LCD technology. The picture looks great, and can definitely not complain about that. My primary goal was photo editing, and buying this monitor has been a HUGE mistake. I can not get a steady calibration for the life of me. My photos look dark and dingy on any other monitor after hours of workup. After doing some research, I have found that this monitor uses TN panel technology which is not acceptable for photo editing. Bummer...I guess I should have done my research first.

Great monitor, owned it for several months now Dec 05, 2008 I've had this monitor for a while now and I've been very happy with it. I love the size and quality of the display. I don't mind the "invisible" buttons, I think it makes it look cool and it's not that hard to work around. The only qualm I've had with it is the internal speakers. Sometimes they just start humming and I don't have them plugged in to anything and the audio jack isn't touching anything. When this happens I don't know how to turn off the speakers so I eventually give up and work in a different environment (I use laptops only). This has only happened a handful of times though.
