Important for Verizon FIOS Users Mar 04, 2010 For those of you who have a Verizon FIOS account for your internet, DON'T PURCHASE THIS BEFORE READING THE FOLLOWING!
It may not be the fault of this product but rather that Verizon FIOS routers do not play well with others. I moved to a Hawking range extender after trying this Netgear one to no avail and got the same results. The only way to solve the problem of extending your FIOS signal is to hook up another wireless router to the Verizon FIOS router and then hook up both your computer's network settings and the range extender to that router. Once I added a Linksys router, I was able to use the Hawking range extender and it worked beautifully. It is not necessary to use a Linksys router in particular, just another one. In my case, I could have just as easily used a Hawking wireless router instead.
Regardless of what range extender you buy, I would make the assumption that the same initial results and the same extra steps will be necessary. You can try another range extender before purchasing a second router to see if it will work but unless it specifically says that it works with FIOS, I doubt that it will.
Unfortunately, I don't really have an opinion on this Netgear range extender for use with a regular router because I never used it in the end. I found the Hawking range extender to work as well as I could have expected for my situation.
bluetooth in-compatibility Mar 04, 2010 Buyers of the WGX102 series wall-plug range extenders should be aware of their incompatibility with Bluetooth and other wireless devices on 2.4GHz frequency. This can cause intermittent and chronic connectivity problems. In the words of Netgear tech support: "For your concern if there is a way to set the WGX102 so it is isolated or shielded from the Bluetooth devices, to tell you honestly, there is no configuration to set on the NETGEAR device to avoid this frequency interference problem."

Works but only briefly Dec 17, 2009 Product burned out on power spike shortly after purchased - neither seller nor manufacturer was willing to fix or replace. Since this product CA NOT be plugged into any power surge protector (specified by manufacturer otherwise it will not work) this product is esentially JUNK!!! Create idea lousy engineering - stay away.
