1Netgear wireless products have cost me a great deal of down time  Aug 13, 2010
During the last six weeks my business partner and I have had daily, often several times a day, difficulty accessing the internet. The problems began with the net gear software not being readable by Window Vista "Supports Windows Vista" drastically reducing the claim "Easy set up with Smart Wizard." Next we've been on their tech support phone lines for easily three hours or more. During these phone calls, we established a problem ticket with all the pertinent information. Yet also during the phone calls, our ticket number was useless, we had to repeat all the information regarding the problem to each and every tech person we talked to. Next, the technicians would quickly tells us to return the product because it was faulty. This instruction was given shortly after the conversations began without any diagnostics being performed, and we have two devices from two separate editions, sometimes one works and the other doesn't. Just the idea that they think the problem is with their devices give me great concern about the reliablity of all their products. These devices have been moved between the two computers without any change. Sometimes one works while the other doesn't, sometimes they both work, sometimes neither works. Our Internet provider is Clear. We have had so much success with Clear, that my business partner called them to see if they could help. Even though this was not their problem their tech support person helped for 1 hour and 35 minutes. During this conversation, with Clear, he walked us through not only the steps that the Netgear employees did, but other Netgear pages and control panels that the Netgear employees were either unaware of or just didn't care enough to lead us to. During the Clear support we got the proble fixed. Really, Clear helped us, Netgear didn't. Based on the conversations with Netgear, we believe the tech support people at Netgear are using standard pre-written answers without really understanding the product. Netgear software is unreliable and their tech support is worthless. I highly recommend either using a different brand of wireless or just keep the wires running through your office or home. You will be much happier.

5Easy and effective  Jul 29, 2010
I bought this product because I have a Netgear wireless router figuring that this would cut down on compatibility issues. Either I was right or this is simply an excellent product. I had no problems at all with installation or functionality. This hardware has worked perfectly in the two weeks I've used it.

5Easy to Install, Reliable Wireless Network Adapter  Jul 22, 2010
I bought this to replace our Linksys adapter that was equivakent to this one, except for its design. It was knocked out of the USB port once, and then the plastic pieces covering it would never stay on tightly like they originally were again. I can tell that this one is MUCH more durable. It maintains a steady signal of mbps. The Linksys adapter would go from 54 mbps to 40 to 32mbps after it was knocked out of the port. It was pretty easy to install as well, and the software worked the very first time. It is compatable with all routers, thankfully. It is good to have a network adapter, because without it our dining room computer would not have internet.

BOTTOM LINE: I would reccommend this to anyone who wants a durable, reliable network adapter.

2I wouldn't recommend Netgear WG111US Wireless G for continuous use  Jun 04, 2010
I installed the Netgear WG111US Wireless G USB Adapter on my Windows 7 PC and it was done without hassles. Just plugged it in the USB port and it was ready to install. The drivers, USB cable and software for this wireless adapter are included in the package too.

It has a cover, so when not in use I can cap it to prevent dust accumulation and with 128-bit WEP encryption it is a safe option for data. Signal strength is very unpredictable. Sometimes it's excellent and the next minute it's not there. Losing connectivity amidst an important work can be annoying. Being bulky, it makes it impossible to use another USB port located close to where it has been plugged.

Several times my computer failed to recognize. Need to unplug and then re-plug in. Just too many flaws for wireless stuff

5Dependable, inexpensive and relatively fast  Apr 21, 2010
I've read other reviews that harp on the difficulties of installing with Windows 7, dropped connections and over-heating. I can state confidently that installation was straight forward on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with the drivers supplied in packaging. I've had no dropped connections with a Belkin wireless router and I've been hitting real-world download tests of 15Mbps on my cable internet connection, which is the same speed tested with a 10/100/1000 Mbps ethernet wired connection. Signal strength is strong across multiple plaster/wooden walls in an apartment building. The unit gets warm but is nothing close to hot to the touch after continuous use. The supplied software does seem superfluous but doesn't cause any problems running in the background. I haven't checked to see if things work normally with it uninstalled but don't see any reason to try since things are running smoothly thus far.
