Linksys WRT600N Linksys Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link Feb 12, 2010 This is my first wireless router and I must say that it's fantastic. I didn't need any help (from customer service) to set it up and I've had it for a little while now (over a year and a half). I didn't even experience the slightest of problems that so many people have been complaining about (even though I've heard mostly good things about this router before I got it). And I feel that much more auspicious because I got it for a lot less than its MSRP. Everything I own that has wireless capabilities is connected to it and I rarely have connection problems (pertaining to the router itself). I also like the design as it reminds me of the beautiful PS3 black piano glossy finish, which is also the same texture my TV has (the Sony Bravia XBR-Series KDL-52XBR5 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is the set that I own, which is also my first HDTV and I think it's perfect just like me and my original 60gb PS3).
WRT600N has major throughput problems! Jan 17, 2010 I highly suggest consumers stay away from this router. Even with the latest firmware updates this model inherently has an issue of losing throughput over time. The only fix is to perform a renew/release on your IP or a hard recycle of the router by unplugging it. Search the web and you'll find this issue is very prevalent with this particular model. I DO NOT recommend purchasing this router.
Only lasted 1 1/2 years. Nov 22, 2009 I bought this router based on the reviews at the time and they were pretty good. In fact the router has worked flawlessly until just the other day. It was slowly dying. I'm using high speed cable internet and noticed my internet speed was very slow. You Tube videos were taking forever to load. Running an internet speed test I found that my internet speed was about 1/4 of what it should be. At first I suspected the cable modem, but after resetting it, the problem still existed. Then I reset the router and the speed would return to normal, but only for a few hours. I flashed the router with the latest Linksys firmware which did not help. Cleared all the settings back to factory and started from scratch, and still no joy. Did some research and found that someone else had the exact same problem with this unit - he was advised by Linksys to replace the router. Rather than fussing with it anymore, especially with some of the more recent reviews, I ended up just replacing the router and I'm back to normal. Sad it only lasted 18 months.

Becareful buying a used one without factory or extended warranty Sep 06, 2009 I had to buy two used WRT600N routers before I found one that appears to be working correctly.
What I learned thru all of this was that if the router is out-of-factory warranty and in need of repair, you probably won't find anyone to repair it; so it will end up as a "paperweight."
Here's why:
1. The Linksys company will not provide or sell any repair manuals, including schematic diagrams; and
2. The Linksys company will not repair any out-of-warranty routers for a fee.
What choice should the consumer have when they buy a Linksys computer accessory and it goes out-of-warranty?
When shopping for a used router, obtain the router's serial number and version; then telephone Linksys customer service and after you provide them with that information, they will advise you with two interesting pieces of information:
1. The date the router was originally sold and then name of the dealer it was sold by; and
2. The amount of factory warranty remaining on the router.
So, if you're buying a used Linksys WRT600N router, be careful....you could end up being hurt....have you ever had a heavy paperweight fall on you toes? :-)

Bad_NEWS Aug 13, 2009 Read the other review about dropped Internet connection and I will add that I have sat and watched the signal fade out with 2 different speed checkers. I have had more trouble with signal being clamped, LOST ALTOGETHER and my cable company had been here close to 20 times in 8 months and they nor myself can find anything other than the 600N as the cause so here is the answer!@#@
IN THE PAST I HAD GOOD LUCK WITH NETGEAR SO I BOUGHT REFURBISHED NETGEAR EXTENDED RANGE "N" ROUTER BECAUSE
I WAS NOT SURE IF THE 600N WAS THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT WANT TO HAVE PAID A BUNCH FOR ANOTHER THAT WOULD FAIL!
YES, YOU GUESSED IT THE NETGEAR FIRED UP i RECONFIGURED MY 3 DESKTOP COMPUTERS AND MY 2 NOTEBOOKS AND WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My only problem is the Netgear does not have a external port for a hard drive but the lack of crap and aggravations that the Linksys WRT600N caused is very wonderful to be DONE WITH LINK_STINKING_SYS and for you know it all's yes I upgraded and flashed the piece of junk. Support is next to none!
