Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | The Linksys Instant Broadband EtherFast Cable/DSL Router is the perfect option to connect a small group of PCs to a high-speed Broadband Internet connection or to an Ethernet back-bone. Configurable as a DHCP server, the EtherFast Cable/DSL Router acts as the only externally recognized Internet device on your local area network (LAN). The router can also be configured to block internal users' access to the Internet. Unlike a typical router which can only share 100Mbps over all its connections, the Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router is equipped with a blazing 4-port EtherFast Switch, dedicating a breakneck 100Mbps to each and every connected PC.If four PCs are simultaneously accessing a standard shared-band-width router, they will only run at one-quarter the speed of any number of PCs accessing the Instant Broadband Cable/DSL Router. Not only will all of your PCs now be able to enjoy your lightning-quick Broadband Internet connection, they will also be able to share internal network data at ten times the Broadband Internet speed. Add it all together and your small network will move along faster than you ever thought possible. | | | |

THIS ROUTER IS GARBAGE!!! Jan 01, 2009 Just got off of the Linksys "customer no-service". What an unbelievable waste of time. This should have been a pretty simple installation given that I have only one desktop computer and am not looking to go wireless. I started the enclosed CD and followed the instructions. The last step is a "system check" and the router "was not located". So, I unplugged everything and started the instructions again just to make sure. Still, no router was detected. I called customer no-service and they have me double-check that I can get onto the internet without the router - no problem, everything works fine. I follow the technician's instructions and did a manual installation and still no router detected and no internet. Fast forward about an hour and they are still having me run the same idiotic tests while getting the same idiotic results - I think that it was Einstein that said, "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results". Finally, the technician states that the problem must be with my computer and that I should call the computer manufacturer, to which I replied, "how could it be a problem with my computer when I can get onto the internet just fine when the router is not connected, and as soon as I connect the router, there is no internet access?" She finally admitted that the problem was with the router and that I should take it back and get a replacement. Yeah, right, I'll replace it with a NetGear router this time. Save yourself the time and money asn skip this peice of garbage.
Buyer Beware Dec 29, 2008 This router does a fine job distributing the internet to my many PC's, Media Extenders, etc on my wired network. Hoewever, none of my PC's could see each other when I installed this (they could with the old router). Linksys support was useless, saying that internet distribution is the router's job, and I should see Microsoft about my computers. I wrote this purchase off and reinstalled my old (before the Cisco acquisition) Linksys router (same model number, but earlier firmware version). Now all my computers see each other and my DHCP table is full. Buy another router if in this situation.
computer needs Dec 24, 2008 The product is working well and there was good support from Lynksis while setting it up.

Never again.... Dec 18, 2008 I bought a Linksys 4-port wired router (Befsr41ver4.1) at the beginning of 07. Setup was a breeze, just plug it in and go literally. The utility disc that was enclosed didn't even work properly. You could get up to the point where it asked you to log in to the router and that was it, it would not take the pre-configured username and password. Warning sign #1. After about a year my wife and I were playing FFXI one night and it crashed the connection we couldn't get back on for days. After getting that taken care of the PC would connect through the router but the PS2 would not. I try to get to the router set-up page through my web browser like it tells me to, no luck can't navigate to it at all. Warning #2. I call Linksys customer support and find out I need to port forward and to even garner that much info I had to pay for a warrenty extension $29.95 out the window.
I send repeated E-mails to Square-Enix for the port numbers I need to configure, 16 days later and an all nighter to catch a live tech support rep becaues SE dont answer e-mails obviously. I get my numbers get on the phone with the support from Linksys, give them my case number and find out I have to pay an ADDITIONAL 29.95, extended warrenty only good for 15 days, they failed to mention that tidbit of important information.
6 hours later with the tech support and I get my router back online and all is right with the world.
That was 5 monthes ago as I'm writing this I am direct connect to my DSL modem that router fouled out again. I still cannot access the set-up page through my browser window. I call linksys and they want another 29.95 or I'm out of luck, I tell them to shov^ it. I will not reccomend this thing to anybody even though it lasted a over a year-ish its been nothing but trouble.
Super easy setup Dec 16, 2008 Extremely easy to set up. I had used a wireless router previously, but found I was sensitive to the radio waves (sounded like high-pitched buzzing) and bought this all-wired router instead. When I tried to unplug and replug the new router to further cut down on EMFs during the night, it had trouble reinitializing, but Linksys Tech Support was very helpful in setting up some custom, manual settings to prevent that problem. We are using it with one PC and two Macs, and have no issues with it now.
