Just plug it into your computer's USB port and enjoy incredible high-speed wireless network access. The Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. And with Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G, -A, and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band
Dual-band wireless networks operate in both the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz radio bands at the same time, effectively doubling the available wireless bandwidth. For instance, you could set up your network to handle video streaming on one radio band, and use the other band for simultaneous data transfers -- avoiding any interference or collisions that would degrade the video performance. The Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter allows you to connect using whichever band works the best for your situation. Operates in the 2.4 and 5GHz radio bands -- choose the one with least congestion in your area Also connects to Wireless-G, -B, and -A networks | | | |

For Computer use only Jan 05, 2009 I bought this device to upgrade the comunication speed to/from my XBox 360 &/or TIVO. After receiving it, noting that it required installation via a Windows CD, I called Linksys customer support and was told that it could not be used for my intended application. I give it 3 stars because I have no idea if it would work well with the PC applications I now understand it is intended for.

Best I've ever used Jan 04, 2009 There are no two ways about it. This miniature adapter is the greatest little item since sliced bread for creating an in-home wireless network. It's small, unobstrusive, and absolutely a dream to set up. Even novices like me can handle the task. Couldn't ask for a more efficient, useful and noteworthy piece of computer equipment. It was a bit pricey, but worth every dime. I strongly recommend this adapter because of its compactness, ease of set up, dependability, and just downright quality and excellent performance.

works as advertised Jan 02, 2009 my computer: dell XPS Windows XP to Vista home premium conversion, 32bit OS (see: control panel-->System to check if you have 32 vs 64 bit). install program runs almost to completion, then crashes. however, the necessary files are installed. then go to Vista Network & Sharing Center, click on "Wireless networks are available," and you are connected. it takes less than 5 minutes from opening the box to having an active wireless connection on your computer. very easy. works without problems.

WORKS FINE Dec 29, 2008 The Linksys WUSB600N works just fine for me. I needed to buy a wireless adapter for my new Vista machine and did a little research as always on Amazon and found this wireless adapter. I having been using this device six months now and have not noticed any major problems. Setup was simple just installed it and away I went. My wife did report some occasional connection drops when sending files via Skype, not sure if this is the cause.
I must admit that my requirements are quite low, I am basically just looking for internet connection to my access point with the occasion computer to computer file transfer. Needless to say having USB is great since it does not take up any desk space. I would definitely recommend this one and would have given 5 stars if not for the aforementioned disconnects.
Good performance; ideal for desktops Dec 20, 2008 The 600N goes into a USB port. If you're planning to use on a laptop, note that it's thicker than a normal USB connector and may it block adjacent ports. It comes with a normal USB cable connected to a small stand so the thickness is not a problem for a desktop -- just plug the cable in, put the adapter into the stand, put it on a convenient surface.
And the USB adapter pulls in the signal from a municipal wi-fi point attached to a phone pole across a very wide main street from my wife's office. The signal is solid enough so that she could cancel the Verizon DSL service she's been using and save about thirty dollars a month. The installation software worked as adverstised, in contrast to some other Linksys installation software I've used. The adapter's performance is a nice contrast to the crummy results from a Linksys WRG 310N router, which turned out to have less range than my G + MIO router -- and useless installation software.
The ability to link to the municipal wi-fi signal shows that the N protocol for wi-fi is reasonably mature, so the WUSB600N USB adapter is worth considering even if you're connecting to something other than a Linksys wireless router.
