4Not a bad PC  Apr 03, 2010
Received promptly. HP support has been excellent when I have contacted them to trouble shoot backing up my data. If you want to backup your data and not willing to spend money on the extra memory pack this PC is not for you. Other than that not a bad PC.

1Keeps crashing - two year mark  Jan 17, 2010
I have researched on the internet and around the two year mark the computer crashes and restarts randomly. Same thing is happening to me. 2 year mark and computer just keeps crashing. I cannot give this computer a high grade because it's so unreliable. I should have stayed with Apple Mac. I will buy a Mac and never go back to PC. This has been a horrible experience and I am disapointed. To fix the problem just go Mac. My old mac still works after 10 years. No problems, ever. Buy a major brand PC and last less than two years. Pathetic.

2Skip this one... unless  Oct 06, 2009
I can't recommend this Desktop to anyone interested in hassle-free computing. The owner of this PC(the boss of my friend) has had this computer for a few years now. Before he started getting Blue Screens of Death there was a problem right from the start. A month after owning the PC he had to replace the Hard Drive which was physically defective. Fast forward to the present and we are going through it all over again. Of course this isn't all HP's fault since the aftermarket drive was to blame. Unfortunately what IS to blame is their inability to handle customer support appropriately. Misreading the BID# I ordered the wrong Recovery discs(they don't sell computers with recovery CDs anymore you have to burn them yourself or order them. My client never bothered to burn recovery discs of course.) So after spending $30 to get the wrong discs I couldn't get a hold of anyone for 2 hours to get the right CDs sent for free... or to get a refund on the incorrect discs... so I had to order the correct recovery dics for another $30. So $60 just to get the computer back to normal.
No major PC manufacturer should have ever put Vista on any of their machines! The OS is buggy, the hardware is often times incompatible or in other words BSODS are a commonality.
We were thinking of putting Windows 7 RC1 onto the PC but instead he's having me restore the factory image and he bought an Imac... So this computer will be up for sale very soon.
While I have the PC in my possession I decided to install Win7 and it runs pretty well. Installed in about 10 minutes. The processor seems to run quickly enough, the HDD(3rd times the charm right?) is fine nothing wrong with it yet. But the point is the PC just doesn't play well with hard drives and the OS is abysmal. If you happen to buy this PC I would suggest downgrading to XP(but no drivers are supported so you're on your own) OR buy windows 7 and install it as soon as possible!!!!
to be honest if you really want a media PC just make your own cheap $500 one, hook it up to your network and stick to Hulu, and netflix for media. These big ugly desktops are really going extinct for a reason.

1HP non-business support is horrible  Aug 20, 2009
I will never buy another non-business HP again based ONLY on their non-business technical support. They are horrible.. just morons parroting something they see on their screen and can't think for themselves.. They also expect you to ship the ENTIRE computer if you ever have a problem.. they will NEVER send you parts for you to install... and they insist the hard drive be in there - even if the original problem is a broken power button... There's no way in hell I'm shipping my hard drive if it's just to replace a power button.

1HORRIBLE COMPUTER! [6/16/09]  Jun 17, 2009
I bought this computer 18 months ago, and overall my experience with HP was horrible, the support is terrible, no help at all, and not to mention the hard drive is VERY LOUD, and the performance is slow, I don't recommend this computer for gamers since it only has 3GB of RAM, runs perfect when you use it just for basic computing, and I've heard HP uses refurbished computer components, maybe that's why the DVD Burner & Hard Drive is defective, since the DVD Burner broke without notice and the hard drive is loud. I will never buy HP again. I'm going with DELL instead, their support is alot better. The only reason why i purchased this HP computer, is for the lightscribe technology.
