This device was shipped as new by a 3rd-party under the Amazon umbrella. We had difficulty setting up the unit on a system with Windows 7 and called Cisco customer service for assistance. Cisco informed us that, according to the serial number on the unit, the device was already out of its 1-year warrenty [even though it came in what appreared to be unopened packaging]. In fact, the Cisco folks informed us that this product was shown as having been sold by Walmart in early 2009. We made a second call to Cisco that confirmed this information.
While we have no facts to make accusations, the circumstances here are suspicious and have made us weary of trading in electronics with Amazon.

im well versed in IT equipment.. and did all the troubleshooting i had to just to find that its dead 1 year after mfgr warranty ended.

worthless - no customer service support after "warranty is up" Jun 28, 2010
After this router stopped working all of a sudden, I called customer "support," only to be told by them that they were going to charge me a minimum of $30 for troubleshooting the router, that my "warranty expired." This is a ripoff so I will not ever buy another Linksys or Cisco product ever again. This is what is wrong with customer service in the United States. Nobody wants to work and they make junk. No wonder North America is falling so far behind other, much better, nations. Good riddance to this piece of junk router and to Linksys and Cisco. Out to the landfill it goes, where it really belonged from the beginning. Be forewarned: Do not buy this router. Nothing but problems with it from the beginning.

Replaced my old WRK54G with this unit. The WRK54G was dropping connectivity about 2-3 times per day, so I decided to buy a USED WRT54GS for $25 bucks. I mirrored the settings on the new one and swapped them out. Now, I have no dropped connections as of yet. I can watch my Roku with no problems and in 4 days, I've had zero dropped connections. Before, my laptops and my Roku would lose connectivity and I'd have to unplug my router and plug it back in.
I cannot say enough good things about the "tried & true" WRT54GS. I'm buying a backup one just to have laying around in case something happens to this one.
None of the new "N" routers can even compare to this thing. The bad thing about "N" routers is that they run to the slowest connection that you have attached to it. so if you have one wireless "G" device connected and one Wireless "N", it will only run at "G" speeds. In my case I have one Macbook that has a "G" card that is on 24-7 and another laptop running a "N" card that is not normally on all the time. So I can only run at "G" speeds anyway. Therefore, why should I waste money on an "N" router?

 Router - poor choice Jun 18, 2010
I bought this from Amazon.com in 2007. It failed & Amazon quickly replaced it. It was difficult to set up and I had to call Linksys cust support to get it installed. From then till now it has worked sporatically, but mostly stayed on. Then I bought a new Win 7 PC. The CD didn't work for whatever reason. When I called Linksys Cust Supt for help they wanted $40. I got a new Netgear for under $60 that installed easily and works steadily & reliably. Do not waste you money on Linksys. Amazon has lots of solid models thaqt arn't much more that a Linksys support call.
