The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really three devices in one box. First, there s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There s also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

1Horrible  Jul 21, 2010
This router is absolutely horrible. I've ran into so many different problems with this thing. The product is designed to lay flat, which causes overheating (it gets REALLY hot) and comes with no stand or fix to it. The stock firmware is absolute garbage. I had to download a custom one which still gave me tons of issues within itself. It refuses to obey simple commands like opening ports. The wireless capability is decent, but gives slow and unreliable connection speed, even on computers that are hard-wired.

Would not recommend this router.

1Great except for crashing twice a day  May 10, 2010
This product would be great, except that it crashes frequently and needs to be rebooted (by power cycling it). Typically this happened at least twice a day. It would happen almost instantly under heavy traffic (e.g. streaming video to my mac). I tried upgrading the firmware and that didn't help. I think the problem is a software bug, but it is possible that it is overheating related, although I had the router in a well-ventilated space. In any case, it made the product very annoying to use.

I finally gave up and bought a netgear WNDR3700, which so far has not crashed at all.

Perhaps I got unlucky somehow, but based on my experience I would strongly recommend against buying this product. It is disappointing since I had good luck with previous Linksys products.

2Avoid this router to avoid headaches  May 06, 2010
As others have reported, this router is great for most things but every week or so it locks up. A simple unplug fixes it but if that happens when you are out of the house trying to access data at home, you are SOL.

Linksys is unresponsive to there being any issues as they seem to think we are all making it up...

1Unreliable router  Apr 08, 2010
Have been using this router for a few months now and wonder why I did not return it while I had the chance. I guess it's too late now.
Setting up the router is a breeze and speeds are good but the connectivity sucks. Have had the connection drop even 2-3 times in a single day. It is really annoying when you're in the middle of something important office work and your VPN hangs due to a wireless connectivity dropping, that too within the same room just 4 ft. from the router. Had a Trendnet earlier and that seems to have a more reliable connection than this one. Save yourself the grief and get something else.

1Nice when it works, but poor reliability  Mar 31, 2010
This router was purchased to replace a WRT54G that worked well for years. The WRT310N was easy to set up and worked great for 30 hours. Great range and speed. Then it started dropping connections. This unit may have been a lemon, but it is being returned. Based on my experiences this one should be avoided.
