3Best for home use  Mar 08, 2010
This is a great machine for home use and light duty. Anything else; specifically for high quality, start looking at others.
Scanning and printing is okay. nothing spectacular. I would not recommend it for presentations or anyone you need to impress.
In terms of both scanning and printing photos again, it's just okay. The speed in both is just average.

I only use the fax for outgoing not incomming. Thank goodness since I read the reviews on how much ink it uses and I have to agree.

But BEWARE, this machine uses quite a bit of ink. There are five seperate cartidges, two alone for balck and it sucks it up like a vacuum. Forget about the idea of REFILLING because Canon uses a unique nozzle and no can refill it. You'll have to buy cartridges every time. I find it best to purchse online, a non-brand name using recycled cartridges.

But again, if you're only using it for light home use you'll be at least satisfied and you'll only be buying inky every two months or so.

2SUCKS INK LIKE A SPONGE! MEMORY USE FUNCTION???  Dec 05, 2009
I use this printer/fax very sparingly because of the problems. One, the ink disappears after very little usage; The cartridges are so poor that the ink is simply drying out. Very, very, very disappointed. I have older, smaller printers that the ink last 5X longer! Secondly, the memory light has a mind of its own. it lights up saying there is a document in memory, when you go thru the step process to print from memory, there is nothing there. I've powered down/up hoping it will reset, but theres that light again. after abt a week, it goes out! Third, the fax documents will shift and cut off the bottom of a page. I've tested this with Canon customer svc where they would fax a doc to me and sure enought the bottom is cut off. NOT AT ALL HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT.

4Canon Pixma MP530 Office All-In-One Inkjet Photo Printer  Nov 25, 2009
expensive printer used to replace my old one instead of buying more expensive ink refills! This would have rated a great deal if they would have included the cables to connect it or at least let you know they weren't there. Still good product after buying extras so I could connect it...

2Not as good as some have posted  Nov 13, 2009
I've had this printer for about 3 years now. I hate buy new printers because there expensive and you don't know what your going to get. I researched before I bought and wound up with this. It was highly recommended. Why can't any printer company sell a bullet proof printer? Now I'm back researching.

This printer has issues with ink. I don't print much and everytime I use it there's an issue. Ink is WAY to expensive and if you even try to recieve a fax or print a B&W document and a color cartridge is low, forget about printing anything. I just defaults and doesn't do a thing till you get a new one. Can't even trick it into thinking theres a new one in there. Faxing? As previous poster said it has issuses. If you like to fax stuff don't bother with this one. After about 6 months it's been making this god awful noise with gears grinding. Thought for sure it would break but, it keeps going. The search continues...

1FAX Function SUX!!!! BAD!!! Really, Really BAD!!!  Jul 23, 2009
The scanner is greast, does duplex, multi sheet. Awesome. Printer is also very good, except that ink is expensive. My problem with this machine, and I will be replacing it as soon as I have a little extra money, is that the FAX feature absolutely SUX!!!!!!!!! Beyond Belief!!!! There are no instructions in the manual for other than the most basic fax operations, no instructions online, and when you finally take the time to reach a tech support person, they get sarcastic with you. You would think faxing would be pretty basic and simple, but like another reviewer on here stated, once an ink cartridge gets low, all faxes dump into memory instead of printing. Figuring out how to get them out of memory is very, very challenging. There are different methods for getting a received fax out of memory than for getting a sent fax out, which is a whole nother set of frustrating issues. I'm sitting here, trying to receive one fax, someone else has tied up my machine with a fax they tried to send, I can't figure out how to send their fax or delete it, and I can't receive mine until their's is out of the way. I'm ready to beat this thing to death with a baseball bat, I'm so stressed out over the stupidity of the FAX funtion. How could you possibly make faxing difficult. It's almost as if they went out of their way to design stupid steps into faxing, and then laughed as they just didn't bother to put any instructions anywhere. None, not in the manual, not in the users guide, not online. NO Where are there instructions on how to use the fax features of this machine. Thank God I don't need to fax often. Although the rest of this machine is pretty good, because of the fax problems, I would Highly Recommend that you DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!!!!! REally. I mean it. It SUX. I hope this helps.
