5Don't be fooled with 1080p monitors  Mar 11, 2010
Yeah, this monitor won't give you 1080p, but if you physically compared this screen with a 1080p 22", this monitor has More Screen Real-Estate! What does that mean? Just do the above. For some reason, manufacturers have been making the 1080p screens smaller in height while achieving the 1080p. I dunno why they do that, maybe to get that ratio, but I don't understand why this monitor is bigger than a 1080p 22". Just go to your local store and physically compare the screen heights of this or a non-1080p 22" against a 1080p 22". It's like the new screens had a big chunk of their screens cut off.

So I believe this monitor still has value. For some, they might want the 1080p. But I cannot sacrifice physical screen size to achieve that. Which is why I'll stay with this monitor until something better comes out, or they stop chopping newer screens like I said above.

As for the VGA vs DVI, DVI is simply more crisp and sharp vs VGA. But it doesn't make it look ugly or anything. Just way less sharpness, that's all.

5Great Value Monitor  Feb 14, 2010
Works well, with one caveat. Don't even bother using the SVGA conector, the picture quality and stability was disappointing. Go with a DVI all digital connection and I think you'll be pretty happy with this monitor.

4Acer 22" 1680x1050 Wide LCD X223WbD  Feb 12, 2010
This LCD display is great. I liked it because of all the features, like DVI & VGA input. It is very flexible in what aspect ratios it can use, and was very vibrant in color. I have a dual monitor set up, and this Acer really rocks. It was so well liked, that a co-worker 'borrowed' it for an FPGA compiler setup and I have not seen it since!

3Ok but not impressed.  Feb 11, 2010
Purchased two monitors just before Christmas. One for me and one for my parents in which I was replacing two 17" monitors. First LCD screen for both of us. No dead pixels. No lag when playing racing games. The monitors are OK, but when comparing them to Dell monitors at work, I do not like the colors on the screen. Navigating Acer's menu to tweak the settings is awful. I have tried all of their modes with no happy results. My video card is an ATI HD4870 so it is a modern card and has current drivers. ATI is well known for great 2D and 3D images so the video card is not the weak link.

5Very Good Deal  Jan 02, 2010
I use this monitor for a home setup rather than work. The unit is very sharp with brilliant colors, and I mean really brilliant. It looks great at the native 1680 x 1050 resolution.

The only negative is that colors are slightly darker toward the top of screen compared with the bottom. I also suspect a graphics designer might not be thrilled with this unit, though the X223Wbd is IMO a budget rather than a high-end monitor.

All in all, for a 22" LCD with a DVI jack at the price I paid ($139 with shipping included) this unit was a steal.
